Emirates Flight 236 At the gate in Chicago O'Hare, our 777 that we're taking to Dubai. The flight is 13-1/2 hours non-stop.
Boeing 777 Engine One of the Boeing 777's two engines. These are the largest-diameter turbofan engines of any aircraft.
Settling In As we settled in, we learned the plane was only 1/3 full. So we each took a row so we could stretch out and sleep.
Uniforms The flight attendants have quite a stylish uniform. Once in the air the caps disappeared until it was time to land.
Twinkle Twinkle The 777 cabin features LED twinkle lights on the ceiling; they were turned on when the other cabin the lights were dimmed.
Chicago to Dubai This was our approximate flight path, although we flew a little further East over Russia, avoiding the Ukraine.
Cruise Ship? Midway through the night/flight we went to the back to stretch our legs. One of the flight attendants offered to take our photo. We laughed, it felt like we were on a cruise ship!

The "Bait House" The word "Bait" means "House" in Arabic. We called this restaurant the "Bait House" which is like saying "House House". Regardless, the name stuck!

Marble Mosque The Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque is clad in Macedonian marble.
Date Palm Columns These decorative column tops are anodized aluminum. Most visitors guess incorrectly that it's gold. The gold leaf is only on the top of the domes and spires.
Column Forest Each of the columns at the Grand Mosque is inlaid with flower patterns made with semi-precious stones.
